Today was a beautiful fall day here in Astana. We were able to take little T outside and we all just loved it. It was probably in the 70's, so coats were optional for us but a must for little T. Actually, she was ready for a snowstorm in Siberia. We sat in the swing and just enjoyed being outside. She was very content sitting on our laps being rocked. We took a walk around the playground, checked out some leaves on the tree and had a visit from the social worker checking on our bonding. All was good. Little T absolutely loved being outside.
After our visit, we did a little food shopping and then ate in TGI Fridays. Yup, the same one as in the states. They had American album covers on the walls, license plates from all the states hanging up and American music playing. Made us feel right at home. Too bad the service was slow. It took over an hour to get our dinner. It was delicious when we got it, but come on. We were the only ones in the place when we arrived. Two other tables were filled after us and they all got their meals and left before we got our food. I kept asking the translator if they had to catch the chickens first. When we finally left the restaurant, we couldn't help but notice how much it really reminds us of NYC, ignoring the Russian store names.
As we headed home, there were a lot of children still out. I think because the weather has been so mild, the children are staying out later to play. Right now at 10:30pm there is a soccer game going on outside our window. We also found out that some of the children only start school at 2 pm. Pretty interesting.
Yesterday was a very lazy day. We did absolutely nothing, but we did manage to stay awake for dinner. Two days in a row now. Maybe this jet lag is finally fading. We can only hope.
